Memorial Day tributes will be held throughout the Corning area: Here's where

A Memorial Day tribute will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Riverfront Park, in downtown Corning, honoring the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military.

Coleen Fabrizi, executive director of the Corning Gaffer District, said the event will include the signing of the national anthem, the reading of the names of the Gold Star hometown heroes and a few words from Corning Mayor Bill Boland.

“It's a really nice ceremony,” Fabrizi said. “And then at the end of the tribute Isaiah Smallwood, from American Idol, will play the concert.”

Smallwood, of Elmira, took part in the recently completed 2023 American Idol event.

“It’s the closing concert for the Rock the Park Concert Series, featured at the weekend long GlassFest,” Fabrizi said.
