Warning: Minor Avengers: Infinity War spoilers ahead.
Above every other shot, there was one especially juicy, adrenaline-pumping moment in the first trailer for Avengers: Infinity War. Call it the Braveheart shot: Captain America, flanked by Black Panther, Okoye, Black Widow, and Winter Soldier, with Hulk towering behind them, and Falcon and War Machine flying above, racing into battle. And it’s nowhere to be found in the movie.
“We filmed a lot of things,” Markus said. “It’s an awesome moment, you can’t not do it. But then you look at your movie and go, ‘Is it working in the context of the film?’ And sometimes, sad as you are, the best place for it is the trailer and not the movie because it screws up [the] story.”
Most notable about this sequence is the presence of Hulk, in all his massive green, computer-generated glory.
If you’ve seen Infinity War (hopefully, you have if you’re reading this), you know that a bewildered Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) can’t summon his alter ego to battle. Hulk, in other words, never hulks out after an early butt-whooping by Thanos.
“You’ll find out more,” Markus promised.
Consider that a tease to why this tease never made the cut.
Avengers: Infinity War is now playing.
