Melissa McCarthy, Octavia Spencer, more team up to feed healthcare workers amid coronavirus pandemic

The celebrities are banding together to help out during the coronavirus pandemic.

Melissa McCarthy, Octavia Spencer, Ben Falcone, Joel McHale, Aimee Carpenter and Leslee Feldman are teaming up with Frontline Foods to connect local restaurants that are struggling during shut downs with frontline healthcare workers.

Frontline Foods will deliver food from the restaurants directly to hospitals and medical facilities to feed healthcare professionals. Prior to joining forces with the organization, the stars were already delivering food in cities like Los Angeles, Detroit and New York.

Frontline Foods is a volunteer-based organization that was created to help during the COVID-19 crisis. It raises money from the community, uses it to buy meals from local restaurants and delivers them to frontline workers. The effort has helped support more than 130 restaurants and delivered more than 50,000 meals, according to their website.

"We are all so blessed to be healthy, home and safe and we wanted to do something, anything, to show our gratitude and support to the frontline workers who are making the ultimate sacrifices on our behalf," Spencer said in a joint statement with Carpenter and Feldman.

Celebrities all over have been stepping up during the pandemic to pitch in how they can.

On Thursday, Rihanna's Clara Lionel Foundation and Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey teamed up to donate $4.2 million to help domestic violence victims during the coronavirus pandemic in Los Angeles. This was the third time the Grammy winning artist helped out during the outbreak.

Less than two weeks after already donating $5 million through her foundation on March 21, Rihanna announced an additional $1 million grant to COVID-19 relief efforts. Her donation was matched by Jay-Z's Shawn Carter Foundation.

On April 4, Miley Cyrus and boyfriend Cody Simpson delivered 120 tacos to their local hospital to express gratitude to hospital workers, whom Simpson dubbed "the heroes of our time."

"So grateful for these true legends of our time dedicating their lives to battling this pandemic," he captioned an Instagram post, featuring himself and Cyrus. "Show some love to yours in your community!"

A message on each bag read: "Thank you for your support & love. Stay strong!"
