Recently, Melissa Benoist revealed a shocking truth about her past, and in it, she revealed that she was physically abused. Talking about this truth has to have been one of the hardest things she had to go through in life, but she was brave.

Benoist shared with her fans that the experience she had in this toxic relationship made her oblivious to unhealthy relationships and this affected her a lot. She mentioned that she only endured the abuse because she thought that she could save the relationship at the end of the day.
According to the star actress, the relationship did not kick-off with physical abuse, but her partner was hysterical and insecure all the time. She also said that this unknown man opened up to her about his bad experience, hence, the reason why he was always in a bad mood.

Not only did she show bravery, but she also had the support of her loving husband, Chris Wood. The "Supergirl" star shared a 14-minute long video on Wednesday via her Instagram story about her ordeal with domestic violence. Although she did not reveal the name of the partner who put her through this pain, she disclosed that the man in question was younger than her. She went on to talk about how they met and how their relationship started off on the wrong foot.

As a loving partner, Benoist sympathized with him and sought to help him through his challenges, but that was a big mistake on her part. In the Instagram story, Benoist alleged that her partner started off as being jealous whenever he saw other men around her and he kept tabs on the kind of clothes she wore out of the house. She said that he did this because he was angry whenever she got close to a male co-worker. Aside from this, her partner was also paranoid about her job.

She was an aspiring actress who could take on amazing roles, but he insisted that she could not kiss other men in movies, but this was the line of work she was into. The actress endured these rules because she did not want to upset him, but soon, things changed, as he started abusing her physically. Fortunately for her, she decided to end the relationship and sought help with a friend.
After revealing this tragic experience, her husband, Chris Wood praised her for her bravery in a Thanksgiving message on Twitter. He also included a hashtag saying #IStandWithMelissa
