Megyn Kelly roasted for joke about needing to get out of jury duty: 'Wear ur blackface you'll be dismissed'

With her NBC exit deal finalized, Megyn Kelly has plenty of time on her hands nowadays. But it seems unemployment has come at an inconvenient time, as the former Megyn Kelly Today host was summoned for jury duty. The television personality made light of the situation on Twitter Thursday, joking that her usual “I’m far too busy” excuse won’t fly as an attempt to opt out.

Well, the joke went over as you might expect on Twitter, as the former Fox News host got roasted online.

Earlier this week it was reported that Kelly will receive the remaining $30 million of her $69 million, three-year contract she signed with NBC in 2017. “The parties have resolved their differences, and Megyn Kelly is no longer an employee of NBC,” NBC News said in a statement Friday.

Although it was Kelly’s comments defending blackface that seemed to lead to her firing, NBCUniversal CEO Steve Burke told Variety it was a time-slot issue and that giving her the third hour of the Today show was a mistake.

“She was at the wrong time of day,” he said. “In hindsight, we shouldn’t have done it.”

According to Kelly, she won’t be unemployed for long. The journalist vows she will return to television this year.
