Megyn Kelly, Gretchen Carlson, Greta Van Susteren Demand Comcast Launch New NBC News Investigation
Megyn Kelly, Gretchen Carlson, Greta Van Susteren and other leading women in TV news called on Comcast CEO Brian Roberts and the board of directors to launch an independent investigation of sexual harassment issues at NBC News.
“As the parent company of NBC Universal, we appeal to you to overturn the network’s refusal on Thursday to conduct an independent investigation of sexual misconduct and coverups at NBC News,” the newswomen said in a letter, which was obtained by TheWrap.

The call for an investigation comes after the publication of a new book by Ronan Farrow that raises questions about NBC News’ handling of accusations against Matt Lauer and its handling of his reporting on Harvey Weinstein when he himself was at NBC. (NBC has repeatedly denied the accusations that it knew of the allegations against Lauer long before he was fired, or that they had succumbed to pressure from Weinstein to kill Farrow’s reporting.)
In her first television interview since her own departure from NBC News, Kelly said Wednesday that NBC needs to conduct an “outside investigation” over the network’s handling of sexual assault allegations made against Lauer, to determine what executives were aware of beforehand. Thursday, the network said there would be no new investigation.

“This week, the fearless reporting by Ronan Farrow and Rich McHugh exposed what many at NBC News have known for years: certain network executives have enabled a corporate culture of widespread sexual harassment and abuse, and are still trying to cover it up today,” Friday’s letter, which was also signed by former CNN producer Eleanor McManus, former NBC News and Fox News anchor and correspondent Linda Vester and former NBC News producer Addie Zinone, continued.
The letter also took aim at top executives whose future at the company has been widely questioned, though NBC has stood behind them.
“According to the book, NBC News Chairman Andy Lack and MSNBC President Phil Griffin also have a record of sexually harassing female subordinates. NBC News President Noah Oppenheim boasted about objectifying women while at Harvard University,” it said. “Are these the men you want running a news network news reliant on the FCC for license renewal?”
A rep for Comcast did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
