Meghan Trainor's 'I'm a Lady' gives Smurfs movie some girl power
Meghan Trainor is all about those Smurfs. On Friday, the pop singer released her latest song, “I’m a Lady,” which adds a girl power anthem to Sony’s upcoming animated movie Smurfs: The Lost Village.
The studio dropped a preview of the song with footage from the film, while the full track is also available on Spotify, Apple Music, Google Play, and
. “I talk with a mouthful, but I couldn’t be sweeter,” Trainor sings. “Yep I’m a cutie in my own way, I won’t play follow the leader.”
Smurfs: The Lost Village, directed by Kelly Asbury, focuses on Smurfette, so it’s only appropriate that she get her own anthem. Trainor thanked her mom, Kelli Trainor, for helping her write the track in a post on Instagram. “Thank you to my mama for helping me write this sassy/powerful song,” the singer wrote. “She won’t admit it but she was by my side supporting me while I wrote it.”
