Meghan McCain slams Felicity Huffman, says she deserves jail time

“The View” co-host Meghan McCain dismissed actress Felicity Huffman’s plea for leniency from the judge, who will be sentencing her for her role in a college bribery scandal, by calling for jail time for the disgraced “Desperate Housewives” star. “She deserves to go to jail,” said McCain. Huffman pled guilty to fraud in May after she was accused of paying a college advisor $15,000 to correct her daughter’s SAT exam. Federal prosecutors are recommending a sentence of one month in jail, a $20,000 fine, and a year of probation. While the actress’ attorneys agree on a year of probation and $20,000 fine, they’re arguing for community service instead of jail time. “I unequivocally take complete responsibility for my actions and will respectfully accept whatever punishment the court deems appropriate,” writes Huffman in her letter. It was also revealed that Huffman’s husband, actor William H. Macy, also wrote a letter to the judge where he talked about his wife’s struggle with motherhood. “But motherhood has, from the very beginning, frightened Felicity and she has not carried being a mom easily. She’s struggled to find the balance between what the experts say and her common sense,” writes Macy. McCain slammed Macy and Huffman, describing the couple as “the poster children for what everyone hates about white privilege.” Fellow panelist Joy Behar weighed in, saying, “Let’s face it. She’s rich, she’s entitled, and she tried to game the system.” Behar added, “This whole rap the husband’s giving about how hard it is to be a mother? Welcome to the club!”
