Meghan Markle is having a chic streak with a favorite label.

On Friday, Meghan and Prince Harry made a surprise appearance at Kevin Costner’s oceanside fundraiser for the charity One805, where she wore Carolina Herrera for the second time in a week. The Duchess of Sussex, 42, sported an oversized black and white herringbone cape by the designer and completed the look with black pants and heels. The fashion statement marked the second time she reached for Herrera in recent days, as she wore a denim shirt dress by the brand on the penultimate day of the Invictus Games in Germany last week.

Meghan was all smiles at the One805LIVE! Fall 2023 fundraiser, organized in support of the first responder community and headlined by Maroon 5 at Costner’s 1.4-acre beachfront estate in Santa Barbara, California. One805 provides financial aid and mental health support to first responders, and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex did the honors of presenting the Yellowstone star with the Heart of the Community Award, the charity wrote on Instagram.

Costner, 68, serves as an ambassador of One805, and the event fell days after he and estranged wife Christine Baumgartner reached a settlement in their divorce. Oprah Winfrey, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi also attended the benefit, where Maroon 5 lead singer Adam Levine sang the band’s classic track “This Love” onstage.

The Duchess of Sussex’s cape moment came exactly a week after she wore Carolina Herrera to the 2023 Düsseldorf Invictus Games. On Sept. 15 — Prince Harry’s 39th birthday! — Meghan stylishly arrived at the sitting volleyball finals at Merkur Spiel-Arena in a denim dress reminiscent of something similar she previously wore to another athletic event. In July 2018, the Archetypes host stepped out in another midi-length denim dress by Carolina Herrera for Harry’s Sentebale charity polo match.

While the denim dresses shared a similar aesthetic, there were some subtle differences. Meghan's 2018 version had a traditional belt around her waist while the new frock featured a tie belt. In addition, her Invictus Games dress had a two-tone effect, with the lower portion of the dress a different color blue than the rest, plus a collar and buttons down the front.

Carolina Herrera seems to be a go-to in Meghan’s closet. The Duchess of Sussex carried a Herrera clutch for the Ms. Foundation 2023 Women of Vision Awards in New York City in May, and she also popped in a red gown by the brand for the Salute to Freedom Gala in NYC in November 2021. The designer has also been behind some of Meghan's biggest moments on royal duty, including her Trooping the Colour ensemble in 2018 as well as a glamorous gown during a tour of Morocco.

Prince Harry and Meghan seemed to be in good spirits in their spot in the stands as they watched Colombia and Poland compete for the gold medal at the Invictus Games last Friday. At one point, Meghan appeared to take a break from the action to have a sip of beer.

Earlier in the day, the couple watched the Poland volleyball team defeat Germany — and Harry was treated to a rousing rendition of "Happy Birthday” from competitors and spectators. Prince Harry clearly enjoyed the affectionate welcome from the crowd, giving a thumbs-up as Meghan leaned into him with a smile.

The Duke of Sussex, a former captain in the British Army, founded the Invictus Games in 2014. The international adaptive sports tournament for wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans aims to amplify the transformative power of sport for those who have served.

Prince Harry closed the competition on Sept. 16 with a short and sweet speech, first speaking in German about how the games' competitors have inspired people around the world. "We've all witnessed the true impact sport has had on your recovery. But you will never truly know the impact your actions this week have had on millions of people around the world," he said.

"You have opened people’s hearts, through your vulnerability, through your resilience and your sheer abilities. You have shown us that joy can emerge from struggle."

The sports tournament has previously been held in London (2014), Orlando (2016), Toronto (2017), Sydney (2018) and The Hague (2022). In 2025, the Invictus Games will return to North America and take place in Vancouver and Whistler, Canada — not a far flight from Harry and Meghan’s Montecito home.
