Is Meghan Markle Ripping Off Princess Diana's Style?

Since she joined the Royal family, Meghan Markle has paid tribute to Prince Harry's late mother, Princess Diana, many times in her jewelry and fashion, but some people are giving her a ton of heat for copying the late Princess' look. The most recent round of Markle bashing from the public took place after the Duchess of Sussex appeared over the weekend for the at the annual Remembrance Sunday service at The Cenotaph in London.

Markle was wrapped up in an all-black wool Stella McCartney coat and wide brim hat and joined the Countess of Wessex and Princess Anne's husband Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Lawrence on the Whitehall balcony. She also wore a single red poppy to remember the fallen on the day that originally began to honor those lost during the First World War.

Comparison to Diana

Markle's look was almost exact to that of Princess Diana during Remembrance Day in 1991, when the Princess was just 30 years old.

Instead of praising the Duchess for paying tribute to her husband's late mother, many criticized Markle for being unoriginal and "creepy."

"Meghan really needs to stop trying to dress like Diana. 2 different body types, completely different outcomes," one person wrote on Twitter.

Another wrote, "Again. Ugh. So tiring. Just be your own person. Stop trying to pretend to be someone you’re not."

One person questioned whether she was "creepy" or "obsessed."

Luckily all the comments weren't negative about Markle, with at least one person noting "Kate does it all the time, that ok right? Only creepy for Meghan? Get over it, they both look beautiful."

Kate Middleton Does It

Meghan Markle isn't the only member of the Royal family to continue to pay tribute to Princess Diana, as the Duchess of Cambridge also shows subtle nods to the late Princess through fashion. Just recently, Kate Middleton wore a pair of repurposed sapphire earrings that had once belonged to Diana.

However, for whatever reason, Kate does not receive the same harsh judgment as her sister-in-law, and many praise the Duchess for keeping the tradition alive.

"Kate will make a great queen one day, the respect she has shown to the Royals, the way she has adapted to Royal life and showing courage and support to the whole of Britain is beyond. She certainly follows in many ways her mother in law's footsteps in terms of strength and wisdom," one person wrote on Twitter.

"And they look beautiful on our beloved Duchess of Cambridge," another noted.

One troll still couldn't help but use the opportunity to take a shot at Markle, stating, "I think MeGain just fell over."

Stella McCartney Felt the Heat

Designer Stella McCartney, the daughter of Paul McCartney, was just excited that Meghan Markle wore one of her designs but ended up getting roasted for, what some felt, was insensitivity over Remembrance Day.

In a now-deleted Instagram post, McCartney wrote about how excited she was to see Markle in her outfit.

"So honoured to have HRH Duchess of Sussex in our Autumn ‘19 coat at Remembrance Day service.⁣ x Stella⁣ #RemembranceDay."

However, people immediately lashed out at McCartney for hawking her clothes during a solemn holiday.

"Nice – but not really a time to be advertising your clothes Stella!!"

After the backlash grew quickly, McCartney was forced to take down the post.
