Meghan Markle & Prince Harry Skipping the Super Bowl Had Nothing To Do with Taylor Swift Despite Speculation

When Prince Harry appeared at the NFL Honors on Feb. 8, fans assumed the royal would attend the Super Bowl with Meghan Markle while in Las Vegas. However, sources have confirmed that the couple stayed away from watching the Kansas City Chiefs take on the San Francisco 49ers and Taylor Swift had nothing to do with it, despite what some fans seem to think!

Some of Swift’s supporters were quick to claim that the former royals were avoiding the game to avoid being upstaged by the superstar, who has attracted plenty of attention for supporting her boyfriend Travis Kelce at the big game and throughout the season.

However, fear not, there is no bad blood between Markle, Prince Harry and the “Anti-Hero” singer. Page Six reports that Markle and Harry were invited to the game by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell but opted to skip to focus on prep for their upcoming trip to Canada.

The couple are due to travel to Canada next week for the opening of the Invictus Games. We’re also sure Harry has got a lot on his plate after traveling to the UK earlier this week for a brief reunion with his father, King Charles, after the British monarch revealed his cancer diagnosis.

That said, Harry did manage to remain in high spirits at the NFL Honors where he presented the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award to Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Cameron Heyward. “Good evening, NFL. It’s an honor to be with you all tonight. I really love how you stole rugby from us and you made it your own,” he joked to the crowd. “Instead of passing it backwards, just pass it forwards. Why not wear pads and a helmet? Of course, have an offense and defense, that makes sense.”

“And why not take a breather every 15 seconds? And you know what, instead of a 10-month season, let’s just make it 18 weeks. Genius,” he continued.
