Meghan Markle & Prince Harry Share First Close-Up of Baby Archie’s Face on Father’s Day

A special milestone took place at Frogmore Cottage this weekend. On Sunday, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry shared a new photo of baby Archie in honor of Harry’s very first Father’s Day. And not only does the sweet snapshot represent a big moment for the Duke of Sussex, but it’s also the first official close-up the royal couple has given of their firstborn’s face. Spoiler alert? It’s a really cute face.
Of course, this isn’t the only time the public has gotten to see the newest little royal. The couple originally introduced Archie at the family’s first photocall the week after his birth. Then, on Mother’s Day, the Duke and Duchess posted a photo of their son’s feet being cradled in Meghan’s hands. But this is the first photo of baby Archie’s face the protective parents have shown so far.

Meghan and Harry shared the sepia-toned photo on their joint Instagram account, @SussexRoyal. Harry’s hand is in the foreground, with baby Archie’s tiny hand clasping his dad’s finger. While part of the infant’s face is hidden behind Harry’s hand, Archie does appear to be looking toward the camera — and, you guys, that face. “Happy Father’s Day! And wishing a very special first Father’s Day to The Duke of Sussex,” the photo was captioned.
Speaking to ET ahead of Father’s Day, highly reputable royal expert Katie Nicholl touched on the significance of this holiday for the new dad. “This is going to be a really important day for Prince Harry. He waited for a very long time to become a father. There were moments when he feared he would never become a dad,” Nicholl shared. “So to mark Father’s Day with baby Archie is going to be really special, and if we’re lucky, who knows, we may even get a glimpse of the new prince on Instagram.”
Color us lucky, eh? Here’s hoping Prince Harry got the kind of Father’s Day he was hoping for (and deserves). He certainly made fans’ day that more special by sharing his son with the world.
