Meghan Markle & Prince Harry’s Friendship With This A-List Couple Did a Total 180 & Even the Sussexes Have No Idea Why

As a natural part of life, friendships come and go through the years, whether intentionally or not. For celebs, however, we can’t help but wonder what happened to those who went from friends to mere acquaintances. Did any drama happen between them? Did they drift apart?
Most recently, a source sparked those questions about the friendship between Meghan Markle and Prince Harry and the equally A-list couple George and Amal Clooney. According to the source for National Enquirer, per RadarOnline, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are reportedly “humiliated” and “saddened” after not being invited to the Clooney Foundation’s annual Albie Awards which took place last month on Sept 28.

“Of all the snubs they’ve had to deal with since their move to Hollywood, this is probably the most hurtful,” the insider revealed. “George and Amal went from being their wedding guests and trusted confidants to totally ghosting them.”
As a reminder, many familiar celebrities and Hollywood power couples attended the bash including Anne Hathaway, Donatella Versace, Matt Damon and his wife Luciana Barroso, Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz, among many others.

Although we may never know what happened between these two couples that led to the lack of invitation, we know that the four of them were once quite close. In 2019, for example, the Up in the Air star talked about his connection with the couple. “We live not too far from one another and we have dinners and stuff and we’re friends with them for all the reasons that you’re friends with anybody,” Clooney told Daily Mail.
Months earlier, the actor defended Markle from the onslaught of hate she had been receiving from the press and beyond. “[T]hey’re just chasing Meghan Markle everywhere, she’s been pursued and vilified,” he told Australia’s Who magazine, comparing her plight to that of Princess Diana. “She’s a woman who is seven months pregnant and she has been pursued and vilified and chased in the same way that Diana was and it’s history repeating itself.”
“We’ve seen how that ends,” Clooney continued.
Knowing how strong the Clooneys and the Sussexes’ bond once was, we’re hoping they can reconnect and work things out sometime soon. Maybe they can all attend the 2024 Awards hand in hand?
