Elizabeth Hurley got to pretend to be a part of The Royal Family between 2015 and 2018 on TV. During her brief stint on the show, she learned about living life as the Queen of England. Hurley played Queen Helena.

Hurley said her experience was that although you do see the Royal Family out and about in the town socializing with the people, no one sees what they do behind the closed doors of the Palace. She says this is how they have a little more privacy than celebrities do because when it comes to celebrities and being in their homes behind closed doors, someone always gets in and takes pictures of them somehow.

She said, "It made me feel a little jealous because it really made me realize that — on our show, you saw us out and about as royalty bestowing goodness and grace on the public, but then, of course, you went behind closed doors and saw what we were getting up to."

She also said, "The real royal family, you never see them behind closed doors ever. We only ever see them bestowing nice things on the outside and you never see anything else, unlike people in show business where unfortunately pesky people seem to get behind the scenes all the time.”

Hurley says the Royal Family is lucky because they have more privacy than those in showbiz. She said, “So actually they’re really lucky because I always think of the royal family being sort of like showbiz — really because it is — but with a lot more privacy. Sometimes. Maybe they’ve lost a little lately!”

She also said that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are not getting the press coverage everyone seems to think they are. She says it is because of the higher level of protection they can afford.

Hurley says, “They’re not really because they still have the secret service looking after them and they still have the palace guard and there’s no cameras backstage, so they don’t really. They still have a great deal more protection than people in show business.”

However, she also stated that some celebrities allow more access to their private lives. She said, "But we are of an age where perhaps more people who could have more privacy choose in some ways to be a little more open and to reveal a little more than perhaps their predecessors did."

Although Hurley says Meghan Markle, Prince Harry, and the rest of the Royal Family does get a little more privacy than celebrities in the entertainment industry, even before Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their relationship to the public, they were having trouble with the press. However, before their engagement to be married, Prince Harry released a statement about the fact that he had filed lawsuits against two different UK media outlets.

The Mirror and The Sun currently have lawsuits against them because of the things they were reporting about Meghan Markle that are allegedly not true. Markle also has a lawsuit against The Daily Mail for the same thing.
