Meghan Markle's make-up artist says Royal Family is 'one-way' establishment
Meghan Markle’s make-up artist and one of her closest friends has referred to the Royal Family as a “one way” establishment with “one perspective”.
Daniel Martin, who has been friends with the Duchess of Sussex for several years, did her make-up on her wedding day to Prince Harry and for her final engagements as a senior royal in March.
He spoke to Entertainment Tonight about his relationship with her and praised her for resonating on a global scale.
He said: “What she represents is now, and globally, she resonates on so many levels, not just because of how she looks but who she is.”
Speaking about how Meghan had changed his world and the beauty industry, he said: “If anything, it gave my name and my work a wider platform.
“To that though, I feel like what she represents is now, she is contemporary, and people felt, that she resonated on so many levels, because here is someone that we all know.
“We all have a friend who looks like her, who is marrying into this establishment, that was very one-way, one perspective, and globally she resonates on so many levels not only because of how she looks but who she is.
“To associate myself with her there’s a responsibility and there’s also, i’m very fortunate that we are authentic friends, and I have to do and be as good, because we’re all in this together.
“She gave me this incredible gift and now it’s my responsibility to share that.”

He spoke about the reaction to the natural look that he and Meghan used for her wedding to Prince Harry, saying: “My goal on that day was just to make sure my friend felt good on her wedding day.
“It wasn’t about the spectacle of who she was marrying, the wedding, it was just I wanted her to feel as beautiful as she did, like any bride on her wedding day.”
The conversation on Entertainment Tonight also included supermodel Veronica Webb, and centred on black representation in the fashion and beauty industry.
Martin also opened up about experiencing racism on set, saying he has previously be mistaken for ‘Daniel Martin’s assistant’.

Martin has previously spoken about doing Meghan’s wedding day make-up.
He told E! news: “She’s the most chill person and that morning was just like, easy. I didn’t have a makeup trial with her because we just couldn’t make the time. I knew what she liked and what she didn’t like. We exchanged, like, Pinterest pictures over text.”
Martin also joined the duchess in the UK for her final round of engagements before she and Prince Harry stepped back as senior royals.
