One thorn in their sides has to be the extended Markle family who constantly give critical interviews, share personal details about Meghan's childhood, and act pretty embarrassing in the media (we're looking at you Samantha Markle.)
Now, Meghan's father, Thomas Markle, has given an extensive 90-minute interview with Channel 5 in the UK about what happened before the royal wedding, how he felt watching it, and he gave personal details about Meghan's childhood, even showing home movies.
Thomas Markle Has Not Spoken To His Daughter Since Before Her Wedding
Obviously, this is the last thing that will mend the relationship between Meghan and her father. Thomas pulled out of the royal wedding just days before after needing to undergo surgery from a heart attack.
Though, he had already created incredibly embarrassing headlines after it was found he had staged paparazzi photos, and many thought this was the real reason he backed out of walking his daughter down the aisle.
During the documentary, Thomas revealed he had not spoken to Meghan or Harry since the day before the wedding, despite earlier claims they talked afterwards.
Thomas Claims He Lied To Improve His Daughter's Image
During the documentary, Thomas claims he lied about when he last spoke to his daughter. Thomas was interviewed by one of Meghan's biggest supporters (yes, that was sarcasm) Piers Morgan on Good Morning Britain in 2018.
Mr. Markle claimed, "Actually, on the Piers show I lied. I said they called me back and they were really concerned about me and I said, ‘Go on your honeymoon, don’t worry about me, I’ll be fine.’ And that was all a lie. So I made their image appear a little bit better.”
Though, it's still hard to see in what way Thomas has improved his daughter's image.
Thomas Doesn't Believe He'll See His Daughter Again
After the staged paparazzi photos, backing out of walking his daughter down the aisle, embarrassing headlines from the Markle family, and now this extensive documentary, will Meghan and her father ever be able to mend their relationship?
He doesn't seem to think so, saying in the documentary, “The last time they might see me is being lowered into the ground. I don’t think at this point they are thrilled to see me or want to talk to me.”
He's probably right, especially after getting paid to share even more private details of his and Meghan's lives.
Is This The Point Of No Return For Meghan and Her Father?
Phil Dampier, author of Royally Suited, told Mail Online, "Meghan will probably be angrier than ever at him for sharing intimate family videos, but he was proving how close they once were."
He continued, "Thomas probably now thinks he has nothing to lose by talking to the press so he may as well make money out of it. Some will criticize him for that but he has almost reached a point of no return where he feels he will never see his daughter or grandson anyway."
Is it really the point of no return for Meghan and her father? It seems likely, though Meghan might be wise to get in contact with her father to at least put a stop to the scandalous headlines he seems to be creating.
