Meghan Markle Gives Us a Peek Inside Her Home in New Video (& Are Those Family Photos We Spy?!)

Meghan Markle launched a mentorship program for women reentering the workforce today in honor of her 40th birthday (classic Meghan). And in the video she shared to make the announcement, she gave us a glimpse inside her Montecito home.

On Wednesday, the Duchess of Sussex announced her latest project, 40x40, a global effort encouraging people around the world to commit to giving 40 minutes of their time to support women going back to work. For the program, Markle asked 40 activists, athletes, artists and world leaders to participate by contributing 40 minutes of mentorship to women reentering the workforce.

In celebration of the launch, the mother of two shared a video from a talk with actress Melissa McCarthy, who was one of the many individuals who gave their time to mentor a woman in their community.

In the clip, which was shot from the duchess’s home in Los Angeles, we see Markle sitting in her home office (which she perfectly matches in all neutrals) while video chatting with her pal and fellow actress. During the first few seconds, viewers get an up-close shot of the duchess’s desk, which features a handful of family photos.

And while we can’t make out all of the photos, it appears the largest one shows Archie standing up and possibly rocking some longer hair. As for the room itself, Markle’s desk is positioned directly in front of a large fireplace, with a plant, dog water bowl and dog bed placed behind her chairs (the pup even makes an appearance). There also appears to be either a telescope or an easel over the mother of two’s left shoulder. Watch the clip below.

In addition to the video, Markle also released a very personal statement about the project.

She began the post, “In reflecting on my 40th birthday and the many things I am grateful for, I’m struck that time is among our greatest and most eternal gifts. Time with our loved ones, time doing the things we love, time spent learning, laughing, growing, and the sacred time we have on this earth. Amongst the most valuable gifts of time is also time spent in service to others knowing that it can contribute to incredible change. To that last point, and with my 40th lap around the sun in mind, it made me wonder: what would happen if we all committed 40 minutes to helping someone else or to mentoring someone in need? And then what would happen if we asked our friends to do the same?”

Even though it’s technically Meghan’s birthday, we feel like we’re the ones who got the gifts.
