Meghan Markle Doesn't Want Prince Harry Traveling to See Dad Prince Charles

As the coronavirus pandemic continues to escalate, we’re all doing what we can to safeguard our wellness and help flatten the curve. So, to hear that Meghan Markle has “forbidden” Prince Harry from traveling right now, well, it sounds like a reasonable response. With the news that Prince Charles has been diagnosed with COVID-19, it makes sense that Harry might feel inclined to be present for his dad. But Meghan has reportedly vetoed that idea — along with any other inkling her husband might have to hop a flight somewhere.

Per DailyMail.com, a source claims that Meghan made it perfectly clear that Harry would have to support his ailing father from afar. She told Harry that “under no circumstances is she okay with him traveling anywhere right now,” insisted the source, who added, “Meghan said Harry’s been in touch with his dad… of course, he’s frustrated. She said they both are frustrated because they are doers and want to do so much more to help.”

However, Meghan is focused on keeping her family safe. And, presumably, on following social distancing guidelines set forth by global health experts. Air travel is inherently risky right now given the contagious nature of the novel coronavirus, and it’s not as though Harry could do anything for Charles other than provide moral support.

Some British media outlets seem to be painting Meghan in a negative light for allegedly issuing a no-travel decree to her husband. But if she did, in fact, tell Harry he can’t visit his dad — or anywhere else for that matter — it aligns with the heavily encouraged tenet of self-isolation.

Besides, since being diagnosed with COVID-19, Prince Charles himself has been hunkered down in quarantine at Queen Elizabeth’s Balmoral Estate in Scotland. He reportedly isn’t entertaining any visitors, per proper protocol. He last saw Harry on March 9 when the Duke of Sussex visited the UK for the annual Commonwealth Service at Westminster Abbey in London.

As for Meghan and Harry, they’ve been holed up since then at their waterfront home on Vancouver Island. And as you might have expected based on Meghan’s travel edict, she’s taking extra precautions at home, too. Staffers are taking strict hygiene measures, including wearing latex gloves.

A silver lining in all of this? The coronavirus outbreak has served to bridge the gap between the Sussexes and the rest of the royal family. “Meghan told her inner circle of friends that Harry has been communicating with Prince William and the Queen on a pretty consistent basis,” Daily Mail’s source revealed. “She said this world crisis has actually brought them all closer together, especially Harry and his brother. Harry has made it very clear to them that he will do whatever he can to help from Canada.”
