This past week, Meghan Markle has been taking time to give back. In addition to supporting the Invictus Games, an an adaptive sports competition for wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans, and being there for her husband Prince Harry, who’s a founder of the Games, Markle also made a quick detour before heading back to the US from Germany.

According to Diakonie Düsseldorf, the Duchess of Sussex made a quick pitstop at the women’s organization TrebeCafé, which supports girls and mothers who live on the streets, after wrapping up her time at the Games. Per the organization’s account, the visit from the royal was a total surprise, even for its most frequent of visitors.

“The visitors to the TrebeCafé told the Duchess openly about their former life on the street, how they got to know the TrebeCafé and how they got their lives back under control there with the support of the employees,” the organization detailed.

Per Diakonie, the organization’s leaders then left Markle to prepare lunch with the girls. “Meghan Markle took over the chopping of vegetables without further ado,” they added. “In a relaxed atmosphere, the girls now had the opportunity to ask the Duchess everything they always wanted to know about her.”

“A great event,” said business area manager Tanja Buck. “The young women and girls in the TrebeCafé have been through a lot. Their self-esteem often suffered as a result. The fact that a woman you admire takes time for you and your concern is balm for the soul.”

On social media, photos of Markle at the organization are being shared. Among the pictures are Markle smiling in a group photo and talking to a little girl.

“#MeghanMarkle is a true humanitarian and philanthropist,” wrote the Duchess’ fan page on X (formerly known as Twitter. “The world needs more people like her ❤️ 💕.” “Meghan is always supporting women and girls,” wrote another user.

For the event, Markle kept it casual in an all-gray look. She paired a gray cable pullover by Toteme with matching high-waisted wide-leg pleated trousers.

If you’re a longtime fan of Markle, then you know that women’s issues have been the driving force in her advocacy. So, most of all, we’re glad she continues to give back and share her love to people and organizations she holds so dear. From Germany and beyond!
