Many have accused Meghan Markle of pressuring husband Prince Harry to step back from his position as a "senior member" of the Royal Family so that she could pursue more fame and success for herself. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have explained their motivation for the change, citing their desire to give Baby Archie a good future.
Detractors believed Meghan wanted to go back to her Hollywood roots and would use the exit as an opportunity to do so.
Hollywood Is Waiting
Well, it looks like Duchess Meghan would definitely have a strong acting career ahead of her if she ever did decide to return to Tinsel Town. President of original content for NBCUniversal Entertainment Networks and Direct-To-Consumer, Bill McGoldrick worked with Meghan during her run on Suits on the USA Network.
McGoldrick told The Hollywood Reporter that basically all of Hollywood would be on the run to answer the phone if Meghan showed any interest in rekindling her successful acting career.
But They Just Might Have To Wait
Despite Hollywood having a keen interest in Duchess Meghan as an actor, McGoldrick does not believe she will return to the screen any time soon. He says there are simply too many hurdles to work around, noting that security would be a major undertaking and that the general public -- and Harry and Meghan's opposers in the UK -- would see any job she picks up as a stunt.
McGoldrick believes Meghan might focus her efforts on charity-driven film projects, rather than scripted content.
Voicework For Charity
McGoldrick's assessment of Meghan's Hollywood plans might not be too far off the mark. The Duchess of Sussex has already shown an interest in creating art for the sake of charity.
She previously wrote the foreword for a cookbook that donates proceeds from sales to charities that benefit the victims of the Grenfell Tower fire and just recently picked up a deal to provide voiceover work for Disney. Her salary for this work will be donated to protect elephants from poachers.
Harry Could Follow Suit
It was actually Prince Harry who could have been responsible for Meghan's new Disney role. He was recently spotted in a video chatting up Disney boss Bob Iger, informing him of Meghan's availability for such work.
Prince Harry seems to have similar charitable goals. The Duke of Sussex is currently working as a producer on Oprah Winfrey's mental health series set to stream on Apple TV. He previously worked on a documentary on HIV and publicly got himself tested for the disease.
