Meghan and Harry Reportedly At Billionaire's Mansion In Canada

It's being reported that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, who are currently trying to take a step back from the royal family, are staying at the Canadian mansion of billionaire Frank Giustra, who has ties to the Clintons.

Though Page Six says that Harry and Meghan are staying at Giustra's mansion, they won't reveal who they're staying with. The site is a mansion on the waterfront near Victoria, British Colombia.

Giustra Also Has Links To Hollywood

The celebrity site adds that Giustra is an ex-stockbroker who co-founded Lionsgate, the movie studio, and is a big donor to the Clinton Foundation. Here's part of what happened.

Fox News says Giustra and former President Bill Clinton traveled to Kazakhstan years ago to meet with its leader. Days after the meeting, Giustra made a more than $3 billion deal with Kazakhstan's state-run uranium mine. Months after that, Giustra apparently donated about $31.3 million to the Clinton Foundation, and promising more where that came from.

The New York Times wrote a story in 2015 further detailing what happened.

Giustra Has His Own Problems

The story, which become a tangled mess, continued when Clinton and Giustra denied that Clinton helped put the uranium deal together. Later, Giustra divested himself of the assets.

Then in 2016, when Hillary Clinton was running for president, emails that leaked from her campaign chairman, John Podesta, revealed that Giustra and billionaire Carlos Slim donated $20 million to the Clinton Foundation, which set up the Haiti Development Fund. That fund was meant to help that country after its devastating earthquakes, though there was no public confirmation of that.

Giustra at the time said the whole dustup was “insanity … a f–king circus... I’m like, seriously, folks? I’m giving away money. There’s a campaign, a political campaign. Anybody with half a brain would know what’s happening.”

The Fallout Continues

Regardless of how Meghan and Harry got to Canada or where they're staying, their own controversy continues. Last week, the couple released a statement on Instagram detailing their decision to take a step back from their senior royal duties. Soon after their statement, Meghan flew to Canada.

Many on social media are not happy to hear that Meghan and Harry are somehow linked with Giustra and his political tie-ins.

How Much Can They Really 'Step Back'?

Meghan and Harry's message to the world read in part:

“After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution. We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen."
