Megan Thee Stallion’s “Megan’s Law” Line Slammed By Family Of Late Rape Victim Megan Kanka

Megan Thee Stallion has been blasted by the family of slain rape victim Megan Kanka for the “Megan’s Law” lyric in her latest single, “Hiss,” TMZ reports.
The Houston rapper dropped the track on Friday (Jan. 26), as a shot at not only Nicki Minaj, but her husband Kenneth Petty. The line in question is: “These ho*s don’t be mad at Megan, these ho*s mad at Megan’s Law/ I don’t really know what the problem is, but I guarantee y’all don’t want me to start.”
Aimed at Petty — who is a registered sex offender due to an incident that took place when he was 15 — the line has caused Richard Kanka to speak out, calling it “highly offensive” to his daughter’s memory. “Megan’s Law” is a federal law that was created after Kanka’s daughter was raped and killed by a repeated child molester in 1994.
The law requires authorities to make information available to the public regarding registered sex offenders in their vicinity.
Per the outlet, the Kanka family is upset with the song over the misuse of his daughter’s likeness and the “pain” it brings to his family. It has been noted that the father hasn’t listened to the track, but was made aware of its lyrics and wasn’t “impressed.”
Reportedly, the Kanka family is now considering taking legal action against the “Savage” rapper, although it could be a tough case to pursue.
According to the American Civil Liberties Union, the Supreme Court has broadly interpreted the First Amendment’s protection of artistic expression extending to books, theatrical works, paintings, posters, television, music, comic books and so much more.
Per site, when the court is deciding a case involving freedom of expression, content neutrality and intent to cause “direct and imminent harm” to society is taken into consideration. The government cannot limit expression due to listeners or the majority of a community feeling offended by its content.
Megan appeared on The Breakfast Club last week where she explained who “Hiss” is for.
“It’s for these bi**hes and ho*s, bi**hes and ho*s alike, men or women,” she said over a call. “Every time one of these motherf**kers uses Megan Thee Stallion name, they get 24 hours of attention. Basically, I understand what y’all doing, and I want y’all to get up off me. Use something else. Do something different. Use another tactic. This one getting old.”
“I’m saying, a hit dog gon’ holler. That’s it. Whoever feel it, feel it,” she continued.
