At last week's MTV VMAs, Megan Thee Stallion and Justin Timberlake created buzz after fans speculated that a viral video caught them arguing backstage. Now, the "Bongos" rapper is breaking down the interaction.

In light of her newly unveiled Flamin' Hot University, where she serves as the official Hot Girl Dean of Admissions, the 28-year-old rapper opened up about how she found out she had gone viral — and what her immediate reaction was.

"I freaking love Justin," Megan tells PEOPLE exclusively. "First of all, I do not have any apps on my phone social media-wise except for TikTok. But when somebody asked me, 'Were you fighting with Justin Timberlake?' I said, 'Why would you say that? In what world would Megan Thee Stallion be fighting with Justin Timberlake? What are you talking about?'"

She continues, "I just talk with my hands. So I was telling him, 'No, I didn't really get to meet you. This does not count.' I had my in ears in. I couldn't hear what he was really saying, but we talked after and I was like, 'Oh man, they think I'm back here tussling with Justin Timberlake.'"

Looking back, Megan says it was "such a cute moment" where she felt "happy."

"That is so foolish," she adds of the fan speculation. "I'm like, 'Dude, we're just back here trying to bring sexy back. Y'all think we fighting and s—?'"

After the award show, she also cleared the air by sharing a TikTok, which she also posted to Instagram, of her and the “Mirrors” singer, 42, hanging out together at Tao Downtown in New York City in the nightclub’s private sky boxes. In the video, the two appeared to be having a blast as they were seated next to each other and laughing.

“I just talk with my hands🤷🏽‍♀️lol @justintimberlake love ya 💙,” the hip-hop star captioned the post, referring to how she was waving her hands at the former *NSYNC member in the viral clip.

Timberlake weighed in on the incident himself by commenting on the post. “Real hot girl s—. Never change @theestallion ❤️,” he replied to the post, which the rapper soundtracked with the J-pop band Do As Infinity's "Fuka Mori,” or one of the themes to the anime Inuyasha.

In her collaboration with Flamin' Hot, Megan helped curate online courses on food, fashion and lifestyle and created limited edition merch collection — which features six items including a Stallion Varsity Jacket — to fund scholarships for HBCU students at her alma mater, Texas Southern University.

"When I first went to college, I was confused about what I wanted to be. I initially went to school and I was like, 'I'm going to be a nurse.' And then I was like, 'This is not for me,'" she recalls. "I feel like I just lost myself in the whole chaos of school. And then it started getting stressful because then I started thinking about how am I going to pay for this? I feel like I'm not doing the right thing."

"So finally, once I spent enough time in school and I started figuring out who I was as a woman, and fortunately for me, by that time, I was already becoming Megan Thee Stallion, I was financially able to put myself through school," she adds. "But I did have a lot of classmates that weren't able to finish school because they couldn't get financial aid or they just didn't have the money. And it was a real pressure, it was stress."

She concludes, "So I always knew I wanted to help somebody and anybody I could get through school, I wanted to make somebody's little college dreams come true."

In addition to giving back, the "Captain Hook" rapper has been hard at work in the studio and says she's ready to "turn the page" but "the hotties are not ready."

"This is going to be something that they really don't expect," she says. "I feel really, really good about it and it is not going to be like your normal hot girl s---."
