Megan Hilty is ringing in the holiday season through song!

The actress, 42, will be performing an intimate holiday concert at the Paradise Club at the Times Square Edition Hotel from Dec. 1 through Dec. 4.

In an exclusive conversation with PEOPLE, Hilty details the event's set list, which will feature various Christmas songs, as well as some surprises.

"I've peppered in some stuff from Smash and some Broadway tunes too," she says, referring to her fan-favorite television series that aired from 2012 to 2013.

According to Hilty, she will be performing alongside her band, which she says "is made up of my husband and some of my best friends."

"We haven't seen each other in a little while, so we are kind of almost selfishly [doing] this just as much for us as [the fans]," she says.

Among the holiday songs Hilty plans to perform are some that are featured on her 2016 album, A Merry Little Christmas, as well as some lesser-known tunes.

"I am doing 'Hard Candy Christmas,' a Dolly Parton favorite, and ... 'The Man with the Bag,'" the Broadway vet says. "I've loved that song for so long, so we've come up with our little arrangement that we're going to do tonight."

Hilty and her family, which includes husband Brian Gallagher and their two kids — daughter Viola Philomena, 9, and son Ronan Laine, 6 — recently arrived in New York City ahead of her performances, where they have been taking in all the holiday magic the Big Apple has to offer.

"We got into the city last night and it was great," she tells PEOPLE. "We immediately went to Rockefeller Center and we just went to Bryant Park with the holiday shops and stuff."

"Nobody does the holidays like New York City, so this feels like the perfect place to kick off my holiday tour," Hilty adds.
