Megan Fox gets candid about pregnancy loss in her new book of poetry.

The Jennifer's Body actress, 37, describes a miscarriage in two poems featured in Pretty Boys Are Poisonous, out now. Fox writes about an ultrasound of a baby girl at 10 weeks and a day, sharing, "maybe if you hadn't... maybe if i had..."

Elsewhere, she writes, "I want to hold your hand / hear your laugh," and later, "but now / I have to say / goodbye." Another line is about imagining holding the baby "as they rip you from my insides."

"I will pay any price," writes Fox. "Tell me please / what is the ransom / for her soul?"

In May 2022, Fox's fiancé Machine Gun Kelly, real name Colson Baker, dedicated his Billboard Music Awards performance of his song "Twin Flame" to Fox, sharing, "And this is for our unborn child."

Fox also writes about themes of abuse and toxic relationships in her poetry. She said in a previous statement that writing the collection was her "attempt to excise the illness that had taken root in me because of my silence."

"I’ve spent my entire life keeping the secrets of men, my body aches from carrying the weight of their sins," she said. "My freedom lives in these pages, and I hope that my words can inspire others to take back their happiness and their identity by using their voice to illuminate what’s been buried, but not forgotten, in the darkness."

Fox recently told PEOPLE the book's subject matter "comes from a lot of places." She explained, "Some of it is literal, while other parts are allegorical. Some poems contain a Grimm’s-fairy-tale-type element, and others serve the same purpose as memes in online culture. All of it is something women can relate to."

Fox is mom to Noah Shannon, 11, Bodhi Ransom, 9, and Journey River, 7, whom she shares with ex Brian Austin Green, 50. Green has been with fiancé Sharna Burgess, 38, since 2020. The two share son Zane, 16 months, and Green is also dad to son Kassius Lijah, 21, with ex Vanessa Marcil.

In September, Green and Burgess opened up about co-parenting with Fox while appearing on an episode of the Whine Down with Jana Kramer podcast. "And [Megan's] very much a part of our life, and we'll always be connected because of the kids. So we are all family. So there's no bad feelings there to be like that cannot be in this house," Burgess revealed.

"Megan is in our home," Green said. "She'll come sometimes when she's dropping off or picking up the kids and she'll come in."

"And hang for a little bit," Burgess added.

"And she'll be holding Zane and it's like, we are one big family," Green told Kramer. "You know, family defines itself obviously in different ways."

"But with her, we do share so much and she now shares so much with Sharna, and they have an amazing connection and friendship and mutual respect and love for each other because of that."
