Megan Fox Reveals 'Breakdown' After Being Sexualized & Objectified During Career

Megan Fox is revealing she suffered a "psychological breakdown" after continuously being sexualized and objectified throughout her career, and it all came to a head after filming her 2009 movie, "Jennifer's Body."

The 33-year-old opened up about her experience to ET, referring to the "dark moment" in her life where she just wanted to lock herself away and hid from the possibility of being mocked or ridiculed.

Being typecast as the sexy character was becoming a reoccurring theme in Fox's life and it ate away at her mentally.

"It wasn't just that movie, it was everyday of my life, all the time, with every project I worked on and every producer I worked with," she recalled. "It preceded a breaking point for me."

Describing her breakdown in detail, Fox remembers not wanting to do anything but hide from the public out of pure fear.

"I think I had a genuine psychological breakdown where I wanted just nothing to do," she stated.

"I didn't want to be seen, I didn't want to have to take a photo, do a magazine, walk a carpet, I didn't want to be seen in public at all because the fear, and the belief, and the absolute certainty that I was going to be mocked, or spat at, or someone was going to yell at me, or people would stone me or savage me for just being out… so I went through a very dark moment after that," the actress added.

#MeToo:

Fox also states that speaking out about being overly sexualized in the industry back then didn't get the results that we see today.

"I feel like I was sort of out and in front of the #MeToo movement before the #MeToo movement happened, I was speaking out and saying, 'Hey, these things are happening to me and they're not OK,'" Fox explained.

She also stated that people felt she deserved the unwanted attention.

"And everyone was like, 'Oh well, f--k you. We don't care, you deserve it.' Because everybody talked about how you looked or how you dressed or the jokes you made," she added.

Feminism:

Fox also reveals that she doesn't feel welcomed by many females, even though she's a champion for feminism.

"Even though I consider myself a feminist, I feel like feminists don't want me to be a part of their group," she stated. "What is supporting other females if there is only certain ones of us we support? If I have to be an academic or have to be non-threatening to you in some way? Why can't I be a part of the group as well?"

Motherhood Saved Her:

Megan Fox credits becoming a mother for helping her pull out of her funk.

She and husband Brian Austin Green welcomed their first child, Noah, in 2012. Fox has since given birth to two other babies.

"I think it took getting pregnant -- that was the first real breakthrough where my consciousness shifted and my mind opened up and I was able to see from a birds eye view and breath and take it in," Fox said.

"And then another kid, and then another kid and with every kid I feel like that's always been the doorway into a better version of myself."

Ya Betta Work:

Don't ask Fox what she's been up to lately because the list is a mile long and she's sick of people telling her she hasn't starred in a movie recently.

"I get this all the time, people will be like, 'You just don't really work that much,'" Fox said. "And it's like, I have given birth, I have gestated and given birth to three children. I stared in a movie that opened world wide, number one -- twice! I was on a critically acclaimed sitcom. I f---ng executive produced and created a show about archaeological controversies! How much more f---ing productive does a f---ing women need to be? F--- you!"

You go, Megan!!
