Megan Fox Calls Machine Gun Kelly's Blackout Tattoo 'Really Elegant': 'Ahead of Its Time'

MGK debuted the shocking tattoo last month on Instagram

Megan Fox is a fan of Machine Gun Kelly's dramatic blackout tattoo.

In fact, she thinks it's "really elegant."

While appearing on the most recent episode of Alex Cooper's Call Her Daddy podcast, Fox addressed MGK's shocking tattoo that he debuted last month on Instagram, saying that he has a "special story" that is only his to tell.

"But the relationship with the tattoos that he had was very conflicted emotionally, whatever they represented — and I don't actually know — but he didn't like to revisit those memories of some of the tattoos that he had and he wanted to get rid of them," Fox told Cooper.

"It's like an elevated version of all those tattoos that were pieced together," the Jennifer's Body actress, 37, went on to say. "I think it's really elegant and it's kind of ahead of its time. I think in 10 years it'll be a trend."

Fox also dished that MGK, 33, whose real name is Colson Baker, didn't go under anesthesia for his blackout tattoo, which some people do when they get hours of work done at a time. Calling it a "spiritual initiation," Fox said she couldn't imagine how he "endured that level of pain."

Celebrity tattoo artist Jose Contreras spoke with PEOPLE in 2022 about this trend of getting a large amount of work done in one sitting while asleep. It's popular among celebrities who don't have the time to visit tattoo studios frequently and who have the means to pay the elevated price of what general anesthesia (and the staff) costs.

"[Celebrities] pay to go under anesthesia so they can get multiple tattoos done in just one sitting," Contreras told PEOPLE. "Imagine five tattoo artists working at the same time on your full back piece, so in seven hours you can get your full back piece with no pain. You just go under, you wake up, and your full back is done. Imagine that."

Contreras, who has tattooed celebrities including Post Malone, Odell Beckham Jr. and Ozuna, added, that for procedures like this, the work is usually done in a real clinic rather than a typical tattoo studio, so the staff has the tools they need for anesthesia. "They're actually with real anesthesiologists and nurses, almost like you are getting a real surgery."
