Meet the New Bond Girls From ‘Spectre’

The new women in Bond’s life stopped by Today to promote the release of Spectre. These ladies actually break the mold a bit for the franchise. For starters, Monica Bellucci is on more of the mature side of what we typically see from the role. Bellucci knew early on that her role would be something special, saying, “When I met [director] Sam Mendes, he told me he was looking for an adult woman. So we see a mature woman for the first time close to James Bond, and I think it’s a beautiful message for women and for actresses.”

Believe it or not, Léa Seydoux is the first blond woman to take the female lead, similar to how Daniel Craig serves as the first blond Bond. Naomie Harris, who plays Miss Moneypenny, is the veteran of the group after appearing in Skyfall. She touched on how her character has changed since the last film. “She’s not out in the field shooting guns or all that kind of thing,” Harris explained. “So I think you find her in a place where she’s happier, she’s more grounded, she’s found her feet. She’s found her true calling, because I don’t think she really had the stomach for killing.” There’s one thing all the Bond women can agree on: that Daniel Craig is a gentleman both onscreen and in real life.
