Sleep expert and legendary game of tag player Freddy Krueger has been the subject of nine films, multiple books, comics, TV shows and at least one 80s rap song by Will Smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff.

Now you can meet the man famous for scaring the hell out of generations of horror movie fans.

Actor Robert Englund, notable for portraying the supernatural slasher of the "Nightmare on Elm Street" franchise, arrives in Indianapolis this August during HorrorHound Weekend. In an email to IndyStar, a spokesperson for Englund said other cast members from the "Nightmare on Elm Street" movies would likely make appearances alongside him.

The convention, which happens Aug. 18-20 at the Indiana Convention Center, 100 S. Capitol Ave, promises fans a chance to meet some of the biggest celebrities in horror cinema and television. Other notable stars appearing at HorrorHound Weekend include Jason Voorhees actor Ken Kirzinger of "Freddy vs. Jason," and Sanderson sister Kathy Najimy of "Hocus Pocus."

And while you might not associate George Wendt, who played Norm in TV's CHEERS, or Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter with scary movies, each has bonafides in the horror industry and are slated to appear at the convention as well.

Monster masks, artists and vendors selling all manner of ghoulish merchandise will be featured at HorrorHound Weekend, according to organizers.

Where can I get tickets for HorrorHound Weekend in Indianapolis?

Tickets for HorrorHound Weekend in Indianapolis can be purchased online at horrorhound.com. Guests can buy $25-30 ticket passes Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, or buy $60-$80 weekend passes. Platinum passes for $1,000 also are available for purchase, which organizers have said includes a two-night stay at a connecting hotel as well as other perks.

Is HorrorHound Weekend family-friendly?

In short? No. Leave the children at home. Organizers said that while they attempt to provide a family environment, they cautioned parents from bringing small children to the convention, adding attendees might dress in horrific costumes (devils, demons, serial killers), including outfits not suitable for younger people.

Foul language may be present during celebrity Q&A's and the convention's film fest includes R-rated films that can often contain strong language, violence, and nudity. Organizers said children under age 15 should be accompanied by an adult at all times.
