Meet the New Addams Family: Oscar Isaac, Charlize Theron Are Gomez and Morticia in Latest Movie

The first teaser trailer for the animated Addams Family is here — and it looks like a lot of sinister fun.

The movie stars Charlize Theron as Morticia, while Oscar Isaac voices her husband Gomez. The two are the head of a clan that includes their kids Wednesday (Chloë Grace Moretz) and Pugsley (Stranger Things‘ Finn Wolfhard), Uncle Fester (Nick Kroll) and Grandmama (Bette Midler).

And while the teaser starts out recounting all the ways that normal American families can be different, the Addams clan resolutely stands out.

“Every family is different, but some families are more different than others,” the narrator says.

The teaser then shows Morticia and Gomez arriving at their famously scary house and deciding to make a home there.

“It’s hideous,” Theron’s Morticia says.

“It’s horrible,” Isaac’s Gomez answers.

“It’s home,” they say together.

The couple’s daughter Wednesday is also introduced in a funny way, as she arrives carrying a single red balloon reminiscent of Stephen King’s iconic character It.

“Strange, there’s usually a murderous clown attached to the other end of these,” Morticia says when she sees her daughter.

The family, which started out as New Yorker cartoons created by Charles Addams, has been featured in the small and big screen, with a popular TV show in the mid-’60s and a movie in 1991.

The latest version will hit theaters Oct. 18, 2019.
