What Are Meese? ‘Jeopardy!’ Contestant Has Fans Cracking Up After ‘Relatable’ Wrong Answer (Video)
Jack Weller didn’t just win “Jeopardy!” on Tuesday, he also won audience hearts with a hilarious wrong answer that even gave host Ken Jennings a laugh.
Weller, a law student, lost to Brian Chang in a rare tie-breaker round last season and returned for the Second Chance Tournament to deliver another “Jeopardy!” highlight.
On Tuesday’s episode, under the category of “Plurals That Don’t End in S,” Weller was given the clue “Moose,” to which he quickly answered… “What are meese?”
“No,” Jennings said with a chuckle, “No, Jack!” The correct answer? That would also be “moose.”

It’s an understandable mistake considering the plural of “goose” is “geese” (however, the plural of “mongoose” is “mongooses,” further proving how tricky grammar questions can be,) and no one is questioning that Weller otherwise played a killer — and winning — game of “Jeopardy!” (He’ll be back for the Second Chance Tournament finals later this week).
But you better believe the folks at home are having a good laugh over the mix-up, and the ‘relatable’ grammar snafu has quickly made him a new fan-favorite on social media:
“What are meese?” as the plural of moose is the most relatable wrong #Jeopardy answer I’ve ever heard.

I love everything about this @Jeopardy clip, except for the fact that they ruled Jack’s answer as incorrect. It’s definitely meese. pic.twitter.com/pLG339zP84

…I doubt I have ever laughed as hard at a #Jeopardy response as I did at the guy who just earnestly answered "meese" for the plural of "moose" (I was halfway through yelling "don't say meese" at the tv

Weller must have been feeling the social media love, because he also got in on the laughs:
