Mean Girls Paramount+ Release Date Set for Musical Remake

Paramount Pictures has officially announced the Mean Girls Paramount+ release date for Tina Fey’s musical remake of iconic 2004 teen movie, starring Reneé Rapp.

More than a month since its theatrical debut, the musical remake of Mean Girls will finally be available for streaming on Paramount+ starting on Tuesday, March 5. During its theatrical run, the film garnered a worldwide gross of over $100 million at the box office. Unlike the original, it received mixed reviews from critics, and it currently holds a 70% Tomatometer rating on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 232 reviews.

“New student Cady Heron is welcomed into the top of the social food chain by the elite group of popular girls called ‘The Plastics,’ ruled by the conniving queen bee Regina George and her minions Gretchen and Karen,” reads the synopsis. “However, when Cady makes the major misstep of falling for Regina’s ex-boyfriend Aaron Samuels, she finds herself prey in Regina’s crosshairs. As Cady sets to take down the group’s apex predator with the help of her outcast friends Janis and Damian, she must learn how to stay true to herself while navigating the most cutthroat jungle of all: high school.”

Mean Girls was directed by Arturo Perez and Samantha Jayne from a screenplay written by Fey, based on Fey’s Broadway musical adaptation of the 2004 movie. It starred Rapp as Regina George, Angourie Rice as Cady Heron, Auli’i Cravalho as Janis, Jaquel Spivey as Damian, Jenna Fischer as Ms. Heron, Busy Philipps as Mrs. George, Avantika as Karen, Mahi Alam as Kevin, Christopher Briney as Aaron Samuels, Bebe Wood as Gretchen Wieners, Ashley Park as Madame Park, Connor Ratliff as Mr. Rapp, and Jon Hamm as Coach Carr.
