Mean Girls Musical Movie Now Will Premiere in Theaters, Not Paramount+

In a move we bet attention-hungry Regina George would endorse, the movie adaptation of Broadway’s Mean Girls musical now will debut in theaters — not on Paramount+ as originally planned.
Per our sister site Deadline, the film’s release is set for Friday, Jan. 12, 2024.

30 Rock‘s Tina Fey, who wrote both the 2004 movie starring Lindsay Lohan and Rachel McAdams and the book for the 2017 musical based on the movie, also penned the latest iteration’s script. The movie will feature music by Jeff Richmond and lyrics by Nell Benjamin; Arturo Perez and Samantha Jayne will direct. Fey and Saturday Night Live boss Lorne Michaels are among the film’s producers.
The cast includes: Reneé Rapp (The Sex Lives of College Girls), Angourie Rice (Mare of Easttown), Auli’i Cravalho (Moana), Jaquel Spivey (Broadway’s A Strange Loop) as Damien. Fey, Tim Meadows (Saturday Night Live), Jenna Fisher (The Office), Jon Hamm (Mad Men), Busy Phillipps (Girls5eva), Bebe Wood (Love, Victor), Ashley Park (Emily in Paris), Connor Ratliff (Search Party), Mahi Alam (American Born Chinese) and Christopher Briney (The Summer I Turned Pretty).
