McDonald's Will Let You Add Bacon to Any Menu Item for Free on Tuesday

McDonald’s newest promotion is for bacon lovers who think outside the box.

For one hour only on Tuesday, January 29, the fast food restaurant is hosting a “Bacon Hour,” where customers can add thick cut, Applewood smoked bacon to anything they order at no extra cost.

“Bacon with an order of Hotcakes? Go for it. Bacon with a Hot-Fudge Sundae? Have at it. Bacon with a Fillet-O-Fish? Why not?” the press release states.

The promotion will run from 4 to 5 p.m. (local time) in celebration of the restaurant officially adding bacon to three of their classics. The Big Mac Bacon, Quarter Pounder Bacon and Cheesy Bacon Fries will all be available January 30.

“When we said there’s no such thing as too much bacon, we weren’t kidding. January 29, we’ll be upping the bacon ante—the bac-ante, if you will—and celebrating this glorious food favorite like never before,” said Chef Michael Haracz, McDonald’s Manager of Culinary Innovation. “I love bacon. America loves bacon. I really can’t wait to see the crazy and daring combinations our customers put together.”

The buzz around bacon at McDonald’s started in December, when a report revealed that the chain would be adding cheesy bacon fries to the menu in the new year. Though some restaurants had already got a first taste of the new dish—which comes as their World Famous Fries topped with real cheddar cheese sauce and smoked bacon bits—McDonald’s only officially confirmed the news this month.

They cited jumping on the bacon bandwagon because of its sheer popularity in the U.S.

“Since 2018, the tasty indulgence has been mentioned more than 17,000 times a day across U.S. online platforms (that’s 740 times an hour!),” the company said in a statement.

Of course the chain already served bacon on their breakfast sandwiches, on a number of different burgers and in salads.
