Mayim Bialik Talks the Likelihood of a 'Blossom' Reunion

Given the trend of ‘80s and ‘90s TV show remakes and reunions — we came perilously close to a whole new Coach series, y’all — it would be surprising to hear that no one is cookin’ up plans for a Blossom reunion, right?

But that’s exactly the situation. Blossom star Mayim Bialik, who recently received her fourth Emmy nomination for her role as Amy Farrah Fowler on The Big Bang Theory, tells Yahoo TV that she’s never been approached about an update on her beloved 1990-95 NBC comedy.

“Now that I live in the Chuck Lorre universe, I am appropriately contracted to the Chuck Lorre universe, so I think it might be legally more interesting than people would imagine,” Bialik says of reuniting with her Blossom castmates, adding that she and her co-stars — including Joey Lawrence, Jenna von Oy, Tedd Wass, Michael Stoyanov, and David Lascher — do keep in touch with each other.

In other surprising Blossom-related revelations in the video clip above, Bialik discusses how policies were so strict on the Disney-produced series that she wasn’t allowed to keep any of Blossom Russo’s colorful wardrobe… not even the bras she wore while playing the teen.

In the words — er, word — of her TV brother Joey, “Whoa!”

The actress (and real-life neuroscientist) did manage to snag one garment she still has today: one of the plaid shirts worn by Lascher, who played Blossom’s boyfriend, Vinnie Bonitardi.

“It does still fit,” she reveals.

The Big Bang Theory returns Sept. 21 at 8 p.m. on CBS.
