Mayday Parade Premieres Awesome First Song Off New Album ‘Black Lines’: Exclusive

Mayday Parade is back! Over the past decade, the Florida-bred quintet has endured across countless trends in their scene, only to stay winning on a journey from the indies to a major label and back again. Their fifth studio album, Black Lines, is due Oct. 9 on Fearless Records, and Billboard is excited to premiere its first track.

That’s a time lapse of an artist re-creating Black Lines‘ cover artwork, in case you were wondering. Mayday Parade is headlining the Alternative Press tour this year (with support from Real Friends) and they’ll have some hot new jams to kick out. The new track — all five-and-a-half minutes of it — is a white-knuckled burner that sounds ideal for closing out a set. Frontman Derek Sanders spills his guts over power riffs and breakdowns: “I am selfish when I need you / I am the blister inside of the wall in the back of your room / I am the envy of what you’re afraid to write, and that’s fine.”

The new LP follows 2013’s Monsters in the Closet, which debuted at No. 10 on the Billboard 200, and No. 2 on the Independent Albums chart. The pre-order for Black Lines will be available tonight (July 30) at 9 p.m. (PST) here.
