Maya Rudolph brought COWBOY CARTER to Saturday Night Live.

On Saturday (May 11), Rudolph revived her Beyoncé persona for a sequel to the sketch comedy show‘s parody of the hit series Hot Ones. Mikey Day portrayed Sean Evans as Rudolph attempted to “slay” the show that has guests answering “hot questions while eating hotter [chicken] wings.”

In the follow-up from her 2021 parody, the evening’s host rocked a get-up similar to the one Bey sports on her COWBOY CARTER album cover. Referring to the original skit, Rudolph jokes, “This is the only thing that I attempted that I did not slay, and that bothered both me and my husband, my husband is Jay-Z.”

Things started off mild, relatively speaking, as Rudolph responded to a question regarding the country album.

“Well, I just thought, ‘Who gets to define country music? Why not me?’” she explained, noting, “This is a tasty wing, not that spicy. I’m from Texas baby; your girl likes it caliente. Let’s do the next one.”

As the wings get progressively spicier, “Beyoncé” gets more uncomfortable, unable to take the heat.

“This wing is stomping my a**. Damn, my bones are hot,” Rudolph said after the heat nearly paralyzed her. She starts to sing “TEXAS HOLD ‘EM” and speaks in tongues while attempting to cool off.

Parody Beyoncé even has her assistant DeRaphael to google if she’s able to remove her bones and have them replaced if they’re on fire. She later throws milk at “Evans” and declares, “That’s what you get for giving the baddest bi**h swamp a** on YouTube.”

Just like the original skit, Bey regains control by forcefully having the footage destroyed.

Rudolph’s version of Queen Bey is one of her most iconic portrayals. As the night’s host, she also channeled the superstar during her opening monologue with RENAISSANCE-esque aesthetics, ballroom culture, and Madonna references.
