Max's “Dune: Prophecy” Places 'Sisterhood Above All' as Popular Sci-Fi Franchise Expands — First Look

"We created a network of influence throughout the imperium. But power comes with a price," says Valya Harkonnen, played by Emily Watson, in the new clip

The Dune universe just got a whole lot bigger!

On Wednesday, May 15, Max unveiled a first-look teaser for the upcoming six-episode series Dune: Prophecy, set 10,000 years before Paul Atreides's ascension.

Scheduled to debut this fall, the series takes inspiration from the novel Sisterhood Of Dune — written by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson — to follow "two Harkonnen sisters as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind and establish the fabled sect that will become known as the Bene Gesserit," according to a press release from the streamer.

Emily Watson, who plays Valya Harkonnen, leads the series. The teaser features Watson, 57, setting the scene as eerie music and whispering voices play in the background.

"Ten thousand years before the birth of Paul Atreides, before the universe would know us as the Bene Gesserit, we founded a sisterhood assigned to the great houses to help them sift truth from lies," says Watson.

"We created a network of influence throughout the imperium. But power comes with a price," she continues. "A sister on the throne. Nothing is more important. And this is the marriage that makes it possible."

Watson is then seen speaking to two people, including Sister Dorotea — played by Camilla Beeput —who says, "This is us playing God, and we will be judged for it."

After a mysterious voice whispers, "Valya Harkonnen," the music begins to intensify. Two individuals are seen fighting with swords, and a group of people are seen dancing around a fire. Four large letters spelling Dune appear on the screen, and Watson declares "sisterhood above all."

Starring opposite Watson and Anouka, 34, are Olivia Williams, Travis Fimmel, Jodhi May, Mark Strong, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Josh Heuston, Chloe Lea, Faoileann Cunningham, Edward Davis, and Aoife Hinds.

Rounding out the cast are Chris Mason, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Jihae, Tabu, Charithra Chandran, Jessica Barden, Emma Canning, and Yerin Ha.
