Maxatawny Township church to hold outdoor bluegrass service [Religion Digest]

Aug. 26----Hope Lutheran Church, 550 Fleetwood Road, Maxatawny Township, is having an outdoor bluegrass service on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. Music will be provided by the Pines Dinner Theater. Bring a lawn chair. In case of inclement weather, the service will be held indoors.

—The Rev. Marian Shearer will be the guest preacher during the 9:30 a.m. worship service on Sunday at Calvary United Church of Christ, 640 Centre Ave., Reading.

—St. John's Lutheran Church, 45 N. Reading Ave., Boyertown, will have a free drive-through, take-out meal today from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. No registration necessary.

—Christ Lutheran Church, 222 Niantic Road, Douglass Township, Montgomery County, will have Coffee and Conversation at 8:30 and 10 a.m. on Sunday in the Welcome Center.

—The Hospitality Committee at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 5 W. Arch St., Fleetwood, is having a bake sale in the narthex before and after the 9 and 10:30 a.m. worship services on Sunday. Coffee hour will be held in the social room after the 9 a.m. service. The Relay for Life team is having a mum sale, flowers to be delivered on Sept. 16. Cost is $8 each or 3 for $21.

—United Church of Christ of Robesonia, 301 W. Penn Ave., will bless backpacks of students and teachers and other school personnel during the 10:15 a.m. worship service on Sunday. School supplies will be given to each young person. The free Children's Clothing Closet and free community meal Soup 'n' Such will be open on Thursday from 4-6 p.m. If you need to look for clothing at another time, call 610-621-5770 and leave a message. —Allegheny United Church of Christ, 1219 Kurtz Mill Road, Brecknock Township, will be selling BBQ chicken meals in the church parking lot today from 10 a.m. until sold out. Proceeds will support the March mission trip to the Samana Province in the Dominican Republic.

—On Sunday morning from 9:05 to 9:45, Christ Episcopal Church, 435 Court St., Reading, will present an adult forum by Fr. Bryce Wandrey, "Living Life to Its Fullest: The Importance of Gratitude." Parking is available at the Abe Lincoln Hotel garage and the M&T Bank lot, both off of Washington Street. Handicap spaces are available next to the church on Court Street.

—Organist Norman Taylor will provide special music during the 10:30 a.m. worship service on Sunday at Good Shepherd United Church of Christ, 170 Tuckerton Road, Muhlenberg Township.

—Maidencreek Church, 261 Main St., Maidencreek Township, will worship Sunday at 9 a.m. with music including piano selections by Kimberly Ayrton and a bell selection by Sophia Ayrton.
