“I’m scared ALL the time. About anything and everything. And that’s on a good day,” Greenfield wrote on Instagram. The new book “is a gentle reminder that fear is often a chosen path and that sometimes what frightens us most is our own imagination.”

Greenfield met Jordan, who died in 2022, on the set of Will & Grace in 2017. In his announcement on Tuesday, the New Girl actor said he and Jordan would often talk about their own anxiety.

“What we were most afraid of and how to put those thoughts to bed,” he wrote. “Our conversations with one another were the inspiration for this book.”

Greenfield finished with a thoughtful tribute to his late friend: “I think Leslie would have been very happy with how it turned out, although he probably would have wanted to be on the front cover”

Good Night Thoughts, illustrated by James Serafino, is Greenfield’s fourth venture into children’s literature, following his releases I Don’t Want to Read This Book, This Book Is Not a Present and I Don’t Want to Read This Book Aloud, all of which focus on building confidence in young readers.

Good Night Thoughts will release Sept. 3. Preorder it here.
