Max Boyens Apologized to Tom Schwartz for Katie Maloney Hookup

Vanderpump Rules alum Max Boyens hasn’t been mentioned much on the show since he was axed in 2020. Max was fired after racially insensitive social media posts from years earlier surfaced. But now Max was mentioned on Pump Rules in a big way. During a recent episode of the show, Brock Davies dropped some news on Tom Schwartz. Schwartz’s ex-wife Katie Maloney went home with one of Schwartz’s friends. That’s right- Max Boyens.

Can you buy an apology card for that?

During the Vanderpump Rules: After Show, James Kennedy chimed in right away. “Even in a crazy rom-com movie, this would be insane,” he said.

The show played a clip from VPR of Brock telling Schwartz about the hook-up. “We were partying the other night, and Katie left with somebody in your friend group,” Brock stated.

“Wait. What? Who is it?” Schwartz asked. “It’s your boy, bro,” Brock replied.

James jumped into the conversation again. “Finding out that your best friend you’re hiking with up at Runyon on the daily f—king banged your ex-wife,” he said while grunting. Charming.

Brock was shocked by Schwartz’s reaction. “I would like that response from him,” he said. “You know what his response was? ‘Oh.’” Then the show cut to a clip from Pump Rules of Schwartz asking, “Max?” repeatedly.

Then Jax Taylor entered the chat. “I never asked you this before. How did you approach Max after this? Did you…was there a phone call?” Jax asked. “Did he reach out to you or did you reach out to him?”

Schwartz replied, “Um…he actually…he actually called me. I think like five days later. And um… I could tell he felt so uncomfortable but we went and got um… lunch in the Valley.” Schwartz continued, “He’s like, ‘Dude I’m so sorry. Like literally f—king alcohol.’ Like just proximity and I think Katie was…I’m not saying she was the aggressor. I think it was mutual, but like Katie was on…I think Katie was on a mission,” he added.

Katie wasn’t pursuing Max

Then Katie weighed in. “Was not on my bucket list. There was more flirting on his part. I’ll put it that way,” she explained. “The only reason why anyone knew was because Scheana [Shay] was like literally creeping on him.”

If Scheana hadn’t tracked Max’s location that night and again in the morning, VPR fans might have missed this hook-up. So thank you, Scheana, for tracking all of your friends’ locations at all times.
