Here’s What’s New on Max in August 2023

August is heating up on Max, with “90 Day: The Last Resort” premiering on the streamer Aug. 15 (one day after it airs on TLC).

Five fan-favorite couples from “90 Day Fiance” have reached their breaking points. In a final attempt to salvage their relationships, each couple will participate in a couples retreat to determine whether or not they can heal old wounds. Alongside a team of professionals, they’ll actively navigate issues with trust, sex, jealousy, anger and intimacy. Explosive group therapies, intense couples sessions, past life regressions, unique on-and-off-resort activities and so much more ensue. At the end of the retreat, each couple must decide if they will stay together or move on separately.

Fans of dating and relationship shows may also be interested in “Kim vs Kayne: The Divorce” on August 7, which chronicles the split between Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. There’s also Season 18 of “Sister Wives,” which premieres on Aug. 20.

There’s plenty for sports fans, as well. The second season of HBO original drama series “Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty” premieres Aug. 6. Season 2 hones in on the period just after the Finals in 1980 through 1984, culminating in the first professional rematch of the era’s greatest stars: Magic Johnson and Larry Bird.

The new season of HBO original “Hard Knocks: Training Camp With the New York Jets” is back Aug. 8, and will chronicle third-year head coach Robert Saleh preparing his team of young emerging stars and prominent veterans — including Aaron Rodgers, Garrett Wilson, Sauce Gardner, C.J. Mosley and Quinnen Williams — for the upcoming NFL season.

The cutthroat world of prep football will be explored in the HBO original doc “BS High,” launching Aug. 23. When a nationally televised high school football game between top-ranked IMG Academy and unknown Bishop Sycamore High School ended with multiple injuries on the field and a 58-0 blowout win for IMG Academy, the fiasco caused fans and audiences to question the legitimacy of the Bishop Sycamore program and its head coach, Roy Johnson.

“Adventure Time” fans will delight over the premiere of “Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake,” which premieres on August 31. The 10-episode series features the fearless sword-wielding adventurer, Fionna, and her magical best friend and talking cat, Cake, as they embark on a multiverse-hopping adventure and journey of self-discovery.

Finally, “And Just Like That” airs its final four episodes (including the highly anticipated Kim Cattrall cameo). “Warrior” will also air its Season 3 finale in August.
