Thanks to his longtime partner Keri Russell, there's one poignant scene from The Americans that Matthew Rhys still can't stop thinking about — daily.

On Sunday, April 28, Rhys, 49, responded to a message on X (formerly known as Twitter) from a fan who said they "think about that train scene" from The Americans series finale "pretty much every week."

The emotional scene takes place as Rhys and Russell's KGB spy character Philip and Elizabeth Jennings, respectively, are sitting in a train bound for Montreal as they leave America to return to Russia. The couple believe their daughter Paige (Holly Taylor) is also on the train with them, but as it pulls off, Elizabeth and Philip see she's still standing on the platform, having chosen to remain in America.

For Rhys, seeing Russell's reaction — which he said she pulled off in one take — remains an unforgettable moment from his six seasons of filming the FX spy drama.

"Keri was told she had one shot at her reaction in the train….when she sees Paige," Rhys wrote of the scene on X. "One take… Because of time and train restrictions. I think about pretty much every day. It won’t go away from my brain."

The Americans is special to Rhys and Russell, 48, not only because it was a critically-acclaimed series, but also because it's where they fell in love.

Although they first met in 2002, they didn't begin dating until they were cast as the show's leads. They first sparked dating rumors in 2013 before later confirming they were seeing one another in 2014.
