Matthew Perry’s Mere Presence on NYC Subway Made a Fan Pass Out

Matthew Perry recently moved to New York City, to the delight — and danger — of his fans. He explained on Live With Kelly and Ryan that he was riding the subway and was recognized by a fan, who immediately passed out. He reenacted the hilarious scene for Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest and said, “They got excited and fell asleep.”

Strange reactions must be a part of celebrities’ lives: As Julia Louis-Dreyfus explained on Ellen, she was traveling in Peru and a fan recognized her, sort of. She was approached by a woman who said, “Oh, you look just like Julia Louis-Dreyfus.” The Veep star responded, “I am.” The woman laughed in disbelief. After trying to assure the woman she was, in fact, herself, the woman dismissively waved her away.
