Matthew Perry's former assistant is looking back on their time together after his death.

In an emotional and heartfelt Instagram tribute, Briana Brancato shared a carousel of pictures of the pair over the years alongside a sweet message.

"I've expressed my deepest gratitude to him on numerous occasions, not only for guiding me into a career I cherish but also for allowing me to take care of him for 7 years," she captioned the post. "Along [with] the countless other experiences I'm thankful for. From witnessing him in his genius to sharing in his worldly adventures living around the world, he took me on a remarkable journey."

Brancato said her "heart is heavy" but believes that "celebrating my memories is the most profound way to honor his legacy."

"I hope that up there, in the great beyond, Mattman is sending us signs. We truly need them," she added. "You'll forever be in my heart. 💔🕊️ I love you Matty."

Perry died on Saturday at age 54 at his Los Angeles-area home. According to TMZ, who first reported the death news, law enforcement sources indicated that there were no drugs found at the scene. There were also no signs of foul play present.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed to PEOPLE that an autopsy has been completed and results are pending a toxicology report. However, an online record has the status of the actor's cause of death currently listed as "deferred" since it's "pending additional investigation."

On Sunday, Perry's family said in a statement to PEOPLE that they are "heartbroken" by his "tragic" death.

"We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of our beloved son and brother. Matthew brought so much joy to the world, both as an actor and a friend," they said. "You all meant so much to him and we appreciate the tremendous outpouring of love."

Perry was best known for playing Chandler Bing on Friends from 1994 to 2004 for 10 seasons. Each season streaming on Max now begins with a tribute to him, reading, "In Memory of Matthew Perry" alongside a headshot of the actor. His year of birth and death are also included on the title card.
