Matthew Perry Teases ‘Braggart’ Justin Trudeau About Boyhood Beef: ‘He’s Showing Off’ (Exclusive Video)

Matthew Perry tried to quash his childhood beef with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau — but not before getting in a few last digs at his former schoolmate as a “braggart.”

In an interview with TheWrap’s Stuart Brazell, the former “Friends” star joked that Trudeau was “showing off” in a recent statement that he doesn’t have time for a rematch with Perry “given my running a country now, and all.”

“He’s showing off. He’s a braggart,” Perry joked, before quickly backpedaling.

“Boy, I’m in trouble. That just started a whole new thing,” said the actor, who’s now starring in the Reelz miniseries “The Kennedys: After Camelot.” “I love you, I love you, Prime Minister Trudeau, I love you.”

When asked if he would fare better in a fight with Trudeau than the coffeehouse bullies from “Friends” season 2, Perry said, “Again, I think we should all move on.”

In the last month, the two fortysomething Canadians have been wavering between a rematch of schoolyard proportions.

Appearing last month on Jimmy Kimmel’s ABC late-night show last month, Perry admitted that he and another friend beat up Canada’s future prime minister in grade school. Trudeau responded with a tweet, suggesting a rematch. “Who hasn’t wanted to punch Chandler?”

Trudeau, a former amateur boxer, recently posted again, saying he doesn’t have time for a rematch and suggesting that readers recheck the date of his tweet, which was April Fool’s Day.

Perry currently appears opposite Katie Holmes in “The Kennedys: After Camelot.” He is also starring in an Off Broadway play that he also wrote, “The End of Longing,” which premieres June 5 in New York.
