Actor Matthew Perry sent a clarifying message to fans on Thursday after he sent a tweet that caused a lot of concern.
The Friends alum, who famously played the sarcastic Chandler Bing on all 10 seasons of the show, sent a short message on Wednesday, with no context, raising questions.
I got kicked out of therapy today.

He later followed up to let his followers know he was OK.
Easy guys, it was just one session. I’m back in therapy where I belong:)

The initial tweet was particularly alarming because Perry has struggled with addiction and spent time in rehab over the years. He joked with Oprah Winfrey on her show in 2003 that he had finally sought help for his addictions after realizing that “the Matthew Perry plan sucked.”
In September, he revealed that he had been hospitalized for three months while recovering from surgery. He had been treated for a gastrointestinal perforation, his representative said.
His fans were there for him in a big way for the latest revelation. They brought jokes related to the show, and a few of them even called on other celebs, including Dax Shepard and Perry’s former co-stars, such as fellow Friends star David Schwimmer and Bradley Whitford, who he worked with on The West Wing, to help him.
I don’t know what is going on, but I hope you are alright and have people to support you.

Just remember, you are a strong, confident woman, who doesn’t need therapy.

Please feel better ❤️ I hope you’re okay. You deserve love and happiness. You made me laugh when I was having rough times and always got me through it. You’re a brilliant, talented man and some day I believe you’ll see light in life. Addiction and depression will not rule you.

Hey, @daxshepard…you talk a lot about helping others in recovery. Maybe this is completely crossing the line and inappropriate but as fan of Matthew Perry, this tweet seems to be more alarming than funny. Can you help?

I initially joked in response to this, and now I’m wondering if you were serious. So, just in case, sending you love as someone who has had more than a few shitty days in therapy. Hang in there! ❤️

MP, I do hope the fact that we all still love you so much from “that role” that we literally speak in that language with those memes is not too horrible after all this time. It really is a reflection of just how much a part of all our lives you have been.

Perry’s team did not immediately respond to Yahoo Entertainment’s request for comment.
