Matthew Perry sets the record straight after worrying fans with tweet about getting 'kicked out of therapy'

Actor Matthew Perry sent a clarifying message to fans on Thursday after he sent a tweet that caused a lot of concern.

The Friends alum, who famously played the sarcastic Chandler Bing on all 10 seasons of the show, sent a short message on Wednesday, with no context, raising questions.

He later followed up to let his followers know he was OK.

The initial tweet was particularly alarming because Perry has struggled with addiction and spent time in rehab over the years. He joked with Oprah Winfrey on her show in 2003 that he had finally sought help for his addictions after realizing that “the Matthew Perry plan sucked.”

In September, he revealed that he had been hospitalized for three months while recovering from surgery. He had been treated for a gastrointestinal perforation, his representative said.

His fans were there for him in a big way for the latest revelation. They brought jokes related to the show, and a few of them even called on other celebs, including Dax Shepard and Perry’s former co-stars, such as fellow Friends star David Schwimmer and Bradley Whitford, who he worked with on The West Wing, to help him.

Perry’s team did not immediately respond to Yahoo Entertainment’s request for comment.
