Matthew Perry, who passed away last weekend, recently spoke out on how much it meant to him to have the very last line in "Friends".

Prior to filming the final episode, Perry pulled Marta Kuffman aside to ask a very special favor. "No one else will care about this except me," he told the producer of the show. "So may I please have the last line?"

Perry's wish was granted as in the last episode of the show, the group of friends gathers in Monica (Courteney Cox) and Chandler (Matthew Perry)'s apartment as they get ready to move out and begin their lives with their newly adopted kids. As they get ready to close the door for the very last time, Rachel (Jennifer Aniston) suggests they grab a cup of coffee together.

"I got to bring the curtain down on 'Friends'," Perry said in a recent interview, referring to his perfect timing of the last line of the show -- "Where?"

For those who have never seen the show, the group of friends always grab coffee at a local shop called Central Perk, so when Chandler asked, "Where?", it was the perfect way to end the long-running series.

If you rewatch the episode, you will see David Schwimmer, who played Ross on the show, give a genuine smile to Perry as they all walk out the door and off the set.

When promoting his 2022 memoir “Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing,” Perry opened up about his drug and alcohol addiction, explaining that that is the reason why he could never watch the hit sitcom — because it was a trigger.

“[I] can’t watch the show because I was brutally thin,” he admitted, “Because I could go drinking, opiates, drinking, cocaine. I could tell season by season by how I looked."

"That’s why I don’t want to watch it because that’s what I see," he said.

Although Perry did not watch "Friends" prior to his passing, it is still one of the most beloved and most talked about shows to this day.

The cast of "Friends" were extremely close, even all of these years later, so when Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer learned of Perry’s tragic passing, the five co-stars decided to release a joint statement.

“We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family,” their statement reads. “There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss.”

The cast continued by stating, “In time we will say more, as and when we are able. For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world.”

None of the cast has yet to release a follow-up statement.
