You know those days when you’re down on yourself and just can’t seem to escape the specter of insecurity? We all have those days — seriously, everyone. So, we could all use the powerful self-love reminder Matthew McConaughey’s wife Camila just shared. The model, designer and mom-of-three got vulnerable about her recent struggles with self-confidence and the person she’s turning to for inspiration.

Camila took to Instagram on Thursday, posting a black-and-white portrait of herself. And while the portrait is stunning, she admits in her message that she’s been feeling anything but lately. “Not feeling my best these days and I got sent this as a reminder of stronger days!” she said, continuing, “As we all go through different things, it’s always good to remind ourselves of our strength!” Like so many of us, Camila says she has looked elsewhere for inspiration when she feels like she needs to change her life. But not today.

“I used to have a great/hot picture of myself in a little corner of my closet where only I could see as a reminder to myself,” she confessed. “I may just print this one out and do that again! You may want to take this tip as a reminder to use ourselves as inspiration for our best-self, and not other people. Other people give us the fuel sometimes, but only we know what our best version is, and how we get there!”

It’s such a simple idea — that only we truly understand what our best self looks and feels like, so we’re our own best role models — yet so easy to overlook. It’s especially tempting to look toward people who appear “perfect” or who seem to have it all together to emulate. As Camila’s post reminds us, though, even those people are likely struggling with issues and insecurities of their own.

So, the next time you’re having an off day, take a cue from Camila and remember you make for some pretty damn good inspo all on your own.
