The world of celebrity spirit owners got a vocal and colorful new member (two, actually) on Wednesday when Matthew McConaughey and his wife, Camila, announced that they had gotten into the tequila business.

While McConaughey jokes in a release that “the world doesn’t need another celebrity tequila,” he posits that “tequila sure could use a kick in the pants.”

Enter, Pantalones Organic Tequila. The rollout was accompanied by a 30-second video that shows the couple riding motorcycles through agave fields, their lower halves blurred out to insinuate that, no, they are not wearing pants.

Those who have read McConaughey’s memoir “Greenlights” may remember the actor’s anecdote about how he first met Brazilian model Camila Alves at a club in Hollywood where he was making margaritas. The couple wonder in their announcement video when tequila stopped being tequila, stopped being so fun, and encouraged people to lose their pantalones.

The organic blue weber agave at the heart of Pantalones Tequila is being harvested by fourth generation agave growers and produced in a certified organic family-owned distillery in Amatitán, Jalisco. The brand features Blanco, with notes of honey and citrus ($45); Reposado, aged 9 months with hints of sweet fruit and fresh oak ($50); and Añejo, aged 15 months with notes of vanilla, butterscotch and maple ($55), varieties. All of the tequilas can be ordered online; there is no mention of retail availability in the release.

A release states that Pantalones Tequila is “dedicated to creating a positive ripple effect for our earth and communities.” The brand is a partner in 1% For the Planet and will be donating 1% of its revenue to environmental non-profit partners “striving to address and correct the various critical issues that impose on our environment.”

The McConaugheys join a crowded celebrity tequila field Matthew mentioned that includes the likes of Michael Jordan, Dwayne Johnson, Kendall Jenner and George Clooney, among others.
